NeSA Writing Score Verification
NeSA Writing Appeals (Score Verification) Form - submit until June 4
Please note:
Score verification for grade 4 will remain the same as in past years. Overall justification of the holistic score is to be based on the rubric language.
Only scores below proficiency or below the cut score will be verified. A copy of the student paper must be included with the form.
In all score verifications, specific language from the rubric must be used. For example, for grades 8 and 11, the district must indicate which of the four domains is to be verified. The explanation provided must use the language of the rubric and refer specifically to the student essay.
Example: This student's essay should receive a higher score in the domain of "organization." The structural development of an introduction, body, and conclusion is functional. The introduction and conclusion are clear, and the one body paragraph is fully developed. Pacing is strong in the body paragraph and functional in the introduction and conclusion. Transitions are clear between paragraphs.
