Grants Management System (GMS) Description and Purpose

The Department's GMS is a web-based system for processing Department issued grants. The system supports application submission, amendment, and approval as well as the issuance of grant awards. The system also supports the processing of payments against grant awards through reimbursement requests and scheduled payments (available for FY05-06 grant awards). Its purposes are:

  1. to provide schools a mechanism to make application for grants in the context of their school improvement process,
  2. to remove as much paper processing as possible with regard to Department issued grants, and
  3. to provide the capability of web-based submission of grant reports.

Almost all Department grants will be placed on the GMS over the next several years and it will become the principal method for grants processing for Department issued grants.
